I want to go to school not to work; An overview of child labor law

20 to 25 % of the world populations are children. It looks too beautiful when they plays in a ground, when they are running in school campus but have you ever been tried to see them those are working in various sector to pay off debt that their parents are having. I think you heard about Iqbal Masih, if you don’t,  then you must know the story… oops it is not a story it is a fact.

Iqbal Masish was a boy, born and brought up in Pakistan. A boy who has been sold to a Carpet Mafia by his parent as a child slave, when he was only 4 years old and for the equivalent of $12. He was forced to work there without any occasional leave. In many ways he has been tortured and he had to work 12 hours in a day. Due to insufficient food and care that is require to grow up for a child he was looking like a 6 years child when he was a 12 years old boy. Any way, some how he had join with BLLF (Bonded Labor Liberation Front) secretly when he was only 10 years old. And he helped over three thousand Pakistani child labor and also given many speeches about child labor around the world. He won Reebok human rights award in 1994 and has got future scholarship to an American university. But in 1995 he was murdered in a public place by the carpet mafia for the famous fight he did against the child labor industry

Well it seems like a story but it is true. And in the third world country they are born where poverty rules. And instead of going school they are forced to work. It must be abolished by the labor law.

In the United States there many statutes in child labor law. And it will affect those are under the age of eighteen.

So while discussing about labor law and employment law, we should not forget about child labor law. Today there are many laws which serve to protect labor rights and ensure the safety.
